Curtain, star and darts, performance and song, Project Space, The Wedding of the King, Berlin 2010
Last act, fourth picture. A stage curtain can be seen, geometrically patterned in blue, red and white tones. A window in the room has been boarded up. Leonid enters this scene. He looks at the boarded-up window, on which images of celestial bodies, copies of stars and the moon are stuck. He throws a few darts at the constellations. He turns on some music. Lisa’s voice is recognizable, she sings a canon with herself. He begins to build a lunar landscape on a flat sieve, which he slowly pours through the sieve.
Inspired by Dostoyevsky’s ‚The Gambler‘, Leonid – up to the stars focuses on the (tragic) final phase of a close relationship. Thoughts want to return to the beloved, once familiar and close person, but can no longer reach them; longing takes the place of encounter. The memory of the person becomes weightless, floating and abstract.
