A project by Judith Karcheter and Bignia Wehrli. Scenic reading at Theater am Gleis, Winterthur 2010
„(…) Fabio is still around. Fabio is back. He just called me, early in the morning, eight o’clock and it’s now nine o’clock in the evening. It’s still yesterday for him. He was sitting in front of the computer looking for me on the globe. (…)“
„(…) I told him about you for the first time, in a subordinate clause. We had a coffee together after the lesson and he told me about Venice, that he slipped on the seaweed there while taking photos and fell into the water. (…)“
‚Fabio‘ documents an exchange of letters over a period of three years. In the form of pictures and texts, a dialog unfolds between Judith Karcheter and Bignia Wehrli that revolves around the figure of ‚Fabio‘. The anecdotes about Fabio, whom the two artists got to know in different places, form the starting point as well as the common thread of this correspondence. The question of whether ‚Fabio‘ is one or two different people remains open and the tension remains until the end. The places where the two authors live, Berlin and Dresden, later Berlin and Hangzhou, as well as Paris and Buenos Aires, form the settings for the story. In the course of time, the focus shifts and new aspects are added: cultures begin to touch each other, horizons, paths and desires become different. Each map is a small piece of evidence of these changes.
